public access to beach from Hinkley Lane
from Yackon
I was very pleased to see that the cut through to the beach is town property and that the beach has an official access point number/sign/etc. While you can't park at the end (pretty much bicycles and walking only) and the walk down is still a challenge, at least it is public. No more abutters shouting that this is private property to anyone walking down (as has happened in the past). Still a bit amusing to see how the land owners on either side have staked out their respective portion of the beach, so they can sun themselves behind their "fence" (although it really looks like cages!). First off ...
Everybody on Nantucket wants something changed or something to stay the same - passionately.
A lot of people would like things on Nantucket to revert to a time when they first arrived, by birth or by the ferry.
Around here, talk of the future often revolves on how much of the past people are willing to give up.
And then there are upstarts who want to plan for the future without considering the past.
And an endless combination of the above.
What's on YOUR wish list for Nantucket?
